Takeshi Kaneshiro Biography

Takeshi Kaneshiro is one of the most popular actors in Taiwan, and is quite famous in Japan as well.

Takeshi came from a mixed heritage of Chinese and Japanese, and is able to communicate in both languages.

Takeshi Kaneshiro started modeling when he was still studying in English-based Taipei American School (he can speak English pretty well).

As his fame was growing, Takeshi decided to quit school to pursue his entertainment career.

In 1992, Takeshi made his singing debut in Taiwan with Heartbreaking Night. Takeshi was a decent singer but he was shot to fame much credited to his handsome looking.

Takeshi’s singing career didn’t last long as he was offered more chances in acting instead.

Takeshi first movie was Heroic Trio 2: Executioners (2003), followed by acclaimed Chungking Express (2004) by renowned Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai.

Takeshi Kaneshiro continued to star in various Hong Kong and Taiwan movies before another breakthrough in 1998, with highly successful Japanese TV drama God, Please Give Me More Time.

Takeshi Kaneshiro became pickier with his movies selection in his recent years, taking part in acclaimed movies like Returner (Japanese), Turn Left - Turn Right, House of Flying Daggers and Perhaps Love etc.

Other than his acting career, Takeshi Kaneshiro also became well known in the video game industry, portraying as Samanosuke, a samurai warrior in popular game Onimusha.
